Corwen Champion selected as Plaid Candidate for by-election
Plaid Cymru have selected Alan Hughes as the party’s candidate for the Corwen by-election on March 18.
The by-election was called following the untimely passing of Cllr. Huw Jones, known by many as Mr Corwen, earlier last year. Huw Jones served as the Plaid Cymru County Councillor since 2008.
Plans to sell public land in Denbigh halted
Denbighshire County Council’s Independent/Conservative Cabinet will have to revisit plans to sell land near Denbigh, following intervention from one of the Council’s Scrutiny committees.
DCC Cabinet agreed at their Cabinet meeting on 22nd September to sell nearly 7 acres of land near Ysgol Pendref, Denbigh. However, Plaid Cymru Councillor for Upper Denbigh, Cllr. Glenn Swingler, and his Plaid Cymru colleagues used call-in powers to demand that the Council’s Community Scrutiny Committee scrutinise the decision.

Prominent Labour councillor joins Plaid Cymru
A prominent Labour Councillor in Denbighshire has left the Labour party and joined Plaid Cymru.
Cllr. Paul Penlington, who has represented Prestatyn North ward on Denbighshire County Council since 2012, joined Plaid Cymru this week saying that he believed the party represented the best interests of his residents and had the most positive ideas for the County and Wales.

Plans by Denbighshire County Council to introduce electric charging points in a new car park in Rhyl have been welcomed by Glenn Swingler Plaid Cymru's Parlimentary Candidate in the Vale of Clwyd.

A Denbighshire County Councillor has been selected to stand for Plaid Cymru in the next Vale of Clwyd parliamentary election.
Glenn Swingler, who represents Upper Denbigh and Henllan, said he wants to “put Wales at the heart” of decisions on issues including child poverty, education funding, food banks and the homeless crisis.
Children could lose out as Government changes Free School Meals criteria
Concerns have been raised that some children might lose out on crucial free school meals as the Welsh Government works out new eligibility criteria following the roll out of Universal Credit.
Previously children were entitled to Free School Meals if they came from households that received certain benefits. However Universal Credit aims to combine all benefits into one payment.

Plaid Cymru the Party of Wales have hit back at Denbighshire County Council’s ruling cabinet’s statement following the furore about homeless people in Rhyl.
Speaking on behalf of the Plaid Cymru group, Group Leader Cllr Arwel Roberts said: “The Cabinet Member should apologise for the comments saying that people staying in temporary accommodation on the Rhyl Seafront might have a ‘potential negative impact on the tourist and regeneration programmes for the town’. It was unacceptable and she should apologise to those families and individuals.
